USMLE Step 1
Step 1 rewards knowing why: the biochemistry, physiology, and pathology underneath the vignette. StepGPT breaks down each question you add, connects every clue to the concept it tests, and turns the lesson into Anki cards before you move on.
USMLE Step 1 · Step 2 CK · Step 3
StepGPT is MedAngle’s USMLE study system. For Step 1, you add a question by typing, pasting, or uploading a screenshot or PDF. StepGPT explains the answer and the tested mechanism, shows why each distractor fails, maps the reasoning with Clinical Chain, and generates Basic and Cloze Anki cards automatically.
Step 1 has been reported as pass/fail since January 2022, but it still tests whether you can apply basic science to a clinical vignette. The foundation you build for it carries straight into Step 2 CK, clerkships, and the wards.
The problem is rarely a shortage of questions. It’s what happens after each one: the half-remembered syndrome, the mechanism you meant to look up, the card you never made. StepGPT is built for that gap.
Step 1 is full of names you’ve seen once: Bartter, Gitelman, Liddle, Crigler–Najjar. Highlight Help explains any clue you select, in the context of the question, without sending you to another tab.
Learning Lines link medical terms to short summaries as you read, and Highlight history keeps every clue explanation so you can come back to it before the exam.
Making three cards per question by hand can add hours to a study day. Automatic Anki writes Basic and Cloze cards from the question you just studied.
Edit, tag, regenerate, or dismiss them, collect them across questions, and export a combined .apkg deck, or send them straight to desktop Anki with AnkiConnect.
Set your exam so the analysis is framed for Step 1.
Type or paste it, or upload a screenshot, PDF, or camera image.
The answer, the tested concept, each clue, and why the distractors fail.
Save cards, highlights, notes, and folders so the lesson is there when you review.
Yes. Pass/fail changed how Step 1 is reported, not what it tests. StepGPT helps you understand the mechanism behind each question and keep it with Anki cards, highlights, and notes, which is knowledge you’ll use again for Step 2 CK.
Yes. Add a screenshot, PDF, or camera image, or type or paste the question text.
Automatic Anki creates Basic and Cloze cards from each question. Edit and collect them, then export a combined .apkg deck or send cards to desktop Anki with AnkiConnect.
